Typhoons, Intense Debate, etc

Just a quick update about the articles that I have written on my other sites. I’m sorry for not updating this blog for the past couple of days because I got stuck in other things, which some are more important and others a bit less. Well, I was playing Pokemon in the past couple of weeks, sounds a bit childish, but hey, that’s what I’ve been playing years ago, it’s part of my past and looks to be my present too, I just can’t get rid of it and even plan to start a blog about the game itself which reasons I’ll disclose in a proper post.

Like most know, Typhoon Ondoy paved through Manila and left more than 300,000 people homeless and killed an estimate of 277 people in the Philippines alone while over 90,000 households are still left with no electricity. A true tragedy that I can’t do anything about it but pray, since I’m too far to offer my physical help in Manila. Aside from Ondoy, another typhoon roared Facebook, going by the name Jacqueline “Jacque” Bermejo, and even though a handful of people believe that she is innocent, there are dozen of questions that she needs to answer before I (and the other thousands that stand against her) start to believe in her.

Just a week after Typhoon Ketsana, Typhoon Parma, popularly known as Pepeng among Filipinos is scheduled to hit mainland this coming Saturday morning from the North Eastern Side. Affected areas are said to be Albay (pointed out by my reader) and the rest of NE Luzon. Another whirlwind in the form of Mikey Arroyo made waves on Twitter, Plurk, Facebook, News Sites and blog sites in the past twenty four hours again. Said to be involved in buying hard liquor instead of helping the needy. But that’s not what actually hurts (me), but the words that he uttered where he noted that BLOGGERS SHOULD KEEP THEMSELVES BUSY HELPING. Well, I don’t think that we’re doing just nothing here, are we? For all I know is that WE BLOGGERS DON’T NEED PUBLIC RECOGNITION FOR THE HELP WE OFFER THROUGH THE NET UNLIKE POLITICIANS WHO WANT EVERY SINGLE ACTION THEY DO COVERED ON NATIONAL TELEVISION.

He also stressed out that blogs and social networking sites like Facebook should be regulated, but I don’t see this happening sooner or even later, it would kill freedom of speech, and it would kill the netizens of the Philippines. Kung alam mo lang sir, many people have helped out and coordinated with each other through blogs and through Facebook specifically. It has saved many lives. AND EVEN A SINGLE LIFE IS MORE WORTH THAT WHAT PEOPLE ACCUSE YOU OF. If you still don’t get it, then I don’t know if you are human. In simple words, a human life, kahit Pinoy LANG yan sa tingin mo, is invaluable, and just saving 1 through Facebook makes it a invaluable accomplishment, and you can’t deny that.

Canada at the other hand shows much heart. Good enough to aid thousands of Filipinos to be relocated in their country, especially those who are affected the most by Typhoon Ketsana (Ondoy) last weekend. It’s very, very kind indeed, but I don’t know how long that’s gonna last once people find a way to abuse them.

Intense Debate is now available in Filipino. Yours truly has translated it and I know that it contains a glitch here and there, I hope that you’ll make use of it. More information is available on the Intense Debate Blog.

So, that’s it for the update for now, I’ll keep you on track with other updates in the next few days.
