Hiling (Wish)

As an opener, it’s just fitting to share with you the first Filipino Poem that I wrote. To start my KP Creations relaunch, I want to showcase to you one of my very first creations. 🙂

The story behind it:

Hiling (English translation: Wish) is a poem that I wrote for my ‘ol crush in high school. I was a freshman at Ateneo de Davao when I wrote it. It was actually just an assignment in my Filipino class during the Valentines Day week. I got the name “Hiling” from the (nick)name of my crush that contains the word “Wish”. Since it’s a Filipino class, I thought, I’d just create a poem where I’d simply translate wish to Filipino. And yeah, there you have it.

Simula sa araw na ito
Lahat ng bituin ay nakatitig sa iyo
Umuulan ng kahit ano
Dahil sa labis na pagmamahal ko…

Sana iyong tatanggapin
Ang pagmamahal na galing sa akin
Dahil alam ko’t alam mo na rin
Na ito lang ang aking tanging hiling…

Ikaw ang tangi kong inspirasyon
Na magtagal ng bilyong henerasyon
Ang dagat ay puno ng malinis na tubig
Dahil sa ganda nitong pagibig…

Ikaw ang nais makapiling, ang nais mahalin
Kahit ayaw mo o gusto mo ikaw pa rin
At alam ko na alam mo din
Walang iwanan magpakailanman.
